Austin High School, part of the Austin Independent School District is located in Austin, Texas and is a short distance from Loop 1/Mopac and provides an education to around 2500 students. The Austin High Bands consist of nearly 140 of those students.
Members of the band participate in Marching Band in the Fall semester and Concert Ensembles in the Spring semester. Alongside those performing ensembles, the Austin Band program has 2 Jazz Bands that perform at festivals and concerts throughout the year. The opportunity to perform solos, chamber ensembles and compete for the TMEA Region Auditions are also available to every Austin High Band student.
The Austin High Band places a strong emphasis on student leadership, individual accountability and character building. Our hope is to have Austin High Band students become better citizens, leaders and music-lovers for life.
The Austin High Band has strong relationships with all of its feeder middle school programs including Clint Small Middle School, O. Henry Middle School, Martin Middle School and Barton Hills Elementary and Bryker Woods Elementary.
The history of the Austin High School Band has been a part of the Austin High School campus for much of the school's existence since 1881 and continues to support all groups, clubs and teams on the Austin High School campus.
